Abstract

The presente article compiles impressions of a carreer diplomat on the developments and institutional challenges of the Intelligence Activity in Brazil. It underscores the importance of the National Intelligence Policy (2016) in restraining the Intelligence Activity according to the benchmarks of the Democratic Rule of Law. It also highlights the need to improve mechanisms that allow for greater information sharing and cooperation among the members of the Brazilian Intelligence System (Sisbin) and proposes that new legislative measures that give the Intelligence Activity more solid legal references be considered (notedly monitoring “foreign interference”) At last, the article hints at the convenience of creating a government body similar to the US National Security Council.
